Qotd: What's your last 5 ⭐ read? Lisa Jewell d Qotd: What's your last 5 ⭐ read?

Lisa Jewell does it yet again and this time it's an easy 5 ⭐ dark and riveting psychological suspense with all the elements put together in a very interesting format. Could easily be her best one so far!!

#noneofthisistrue comes out in July and it follows Alix Summers a podcaster whose chance encounter with a weird woman called Josie Fair on her birthday changes the course of her life. Told from some very interesting formats including scripts from Audio recordings and Netflix Documentary, @lisajewelluk paints a vivid yet disturbing picture of this strange story that gives the warning to be cautious when spoken to strangers, although they look plain and harmless. Looks can be deceptive and no one knows what's happening in another person's life! πŸ˜±πŸ‘½

Not gonna be giving away more of the story but jump in blind and you'd be blown away, quite literally. Happy reading folks! πŸ€—πŸ“š

Thoughts πŸ’
This book surprised me in ways I did not see coming. Mainly because the narrator is so goddamned crazy that I can never guess what she'd do next. I had to read more to know how it all ends. Job well done by Ren Destefano!

Read if you like:
πŸ¦Ήβ€β™€οΈkiller women
πŸ‘½ Unreliable narrator
πŸ’ Stories following identical siblings
πŸ’₯ Cliffhangers

Firstly, this is a women centric serial killer trope with a twist. I'm not gonna go deep into the story and spoil the fun for you all but it's so much more fun if you just dive into the book blindly and see what's brewing(much like the victims in the story!!!😱).

The author did a convincing job of giving us a single narrator (times three!!) who is a crazed lunatic and a psychotic killer who dreams of killing her lover in impossible ways and disposing of the evidence in thin air. The details are very important for the author and she provides them in bits and pieces like salt and pepper, which are very important for a meal but to be added in sufficient amounts to make it a perfect dish!

I was so engrossed in the book and really enjoyed the style of Ren's prose. It was dark, witty, raw and brutal and equally emotional. I was also very curious to know how she'll take the story further because it gets so messy in the middle and the author does a fantastic job of giving the story the ending it deserves, although some might not approve it to be a very practical one. But, hey it's fiction at its best. Enjoy it!

Read if you enjoy:
β–ͺ️ Stories with a story
β–ͺ️ Multiple timelines
β–ͺ️ Multiple PoVs
β–ͺ️Weird, luxurious house
β–ͺ️Italy

So, this was a mysterious ride. Why? Because I've mixed feelings about the book. There were times I wanted to quit it and pushed myself very hard to care about the characters and finish what I'd started reading. So that's what I did.

In the summer of 1974, a group of young people stayed at a gorgeous Italian villa with a famous rock star and by the end of season, one was dead and the others went out to become stars.

At present, cozy mystery author Emily and her BFF self-help author Chess are staying at the very same bungalow, hoping to get their new books to give birth there. BUT they're strangely engrossed in the history of the villa, to the things that happened in the summer of 1974. It might be the house or the isolation that brings out things between the two friends and soon everything will be in the open. And there will be another death this time too. Maybe it IS the house. After all, houses remember!!

Several stories and I found myself not to be interested in any of these and the characters annoyed me so much that I wanted to give it a stop. The only thing that kept me going was the author's storyteller and that is where the 3 stars go. I expect to read a better story from Rachel Hawkins next time.
