Book Review – Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone

Verdict: A fresh scintillating plot with a brutally-honest character, a must-read of this year!

Plot:

A double life with a single purpose: revenge.

Jane’s days at a Midwest insurance company are perfectly ordinary. She blends in well, unremarkably pretty in her floral-print dresses and extra efficient at her low-level job. She’s just the kind of woman middle manager Steven Hepsworth likes—meek, insecure, and willing to defer to a man. No one has any idea who Jane really is. Least of all Steven.

But plain Jane is hiding something. And Steven’s bringing out the worst in her.

Nothing can distract Jane from going straight for his heart: allowing herself to be seduced into Steven’s bed, to insinuate herself into his career and his family, and to expose all his dirty secrets. It’s time for Jane to dig out everything that matters to Steven. So she can take it all away.

Just as he did to her.

Having escaped the plains of her youth, she now resides with her family in a small town high in the Rocky Mountains, where she enjoys hiking, snowshoeing, and not skiing (too dangerous). Swathi’s Review:

I took this book with me for my vacay, and I enjoyed it even more than my holidays! Thanks to Amazon Publishing and Lake Union Publishing for this ARC, in exchange of my honest review.

This book doesn’t have a great story to call it a Thriller or a Crime Fiction, though the plot is simply intriguing because of the character “Jane” herself. She claims herself as a Sociopath who is devoid of emotions, and she wants in her life is Revenge on her best friend’s church-going-boyfriend who takes advantage of vulnerable women, destroys their confidence and integrity, then finally dumping them.

Jane wants to avenge her best friend Megan’s suicide, by taking everything from the man who considers himself as the pure Macho and then teach him the ultimate lesson! She uses her sexuality as the weapon of disaster and plots as much as possible, leaving the readers in expectations. There is literally a sociopathic plot in every single chapter, which makes you think. “Yes, Do it now!” “Kill Him!”

Wealthy Jane choses a low level job, with a different second name, though her second names are never revealed anywhere in the book! Interesting, isn’t it?

The author’s portrayal of Jane is simply a brutally-honest picture of every woman in the modern world, who is used, abused, and silently plotting her revenge in her brain, yet puts out a smile outside. I strongly recommend this book to every woman out there, to feel strong and independent and beautiful, as you are and never to be intimidated by the remarks from the outside world.

All the opinions are my own.

Happy reading. XoXo!
