About the Book:

This vacation is about to turn deadly…

Cora’s on the island vacation of her dreams: a private beach in paradise, a romantic proposal, and an eight-figure cheque following the sale of her new fiancé’s business.

When their island turns out to be not so private after all, Cora tries to make the best of a bad situation by inviting their strangely friendly neighbours to celebrate with them.

But it doesn’t take long for her once-in-a-lifetime holiday to take a very sinister turn…

Swathi’s Thoughts:

So, Cora and Jonathan are on vacation on this gorgeous private island with a gorgeous house where they’re completely utterly alone except for the cleaning and maintenance people. It’s the perfect holiday one could ask for, as they’d planned every day of the or 2 week stay meticulously beforehand so that they don’t miss out any fun. And then Jonathan wins a big bid on his company as a huge sum of money gets transferred to their account. It becomes romantic as Jonathan gets on one knee and proposes, putting a huge diamond rock to Cora’s finger as she says yes! And that’s when they realise they’re not alone.

Dylan and Hazel introduce themselves as their neighbors as they intrude Cora and Jonathan’s moment of their lives. There is something so wrong about the couple. Especially because they eerily resemble the pair and could easily become their doppelgangers! Things escalate very quickly as a weird friendship forms between the two couples. They begin exploring the Island, going fishing, diving into the sea, swimming with the sharks, and playing poker at the casino!

All until shit hits hard on their hungover faces and nothing seems as it was on the gorgeous island anymore.

I read the book in a single sitting, non stop because of the pace at which it moves! It takes a few chapters to get a hold on the plot though. I might have dropped it down myself, as the first few chapters were a bit dull and uneventful but when the mystery begins, there’s just no time to breathe or think! It’s a scary roller-coaster ride with lots of blood and action.

If you’re looking for a beach read with a strong female lead, quick chapters, and unexpected twists then PR Black’s The Beach House should definitely be on your list. Highly recommended from me.

Many thanks to the publisher for my digital copy. All opinions are solely mine.
