Verdict: Beautifully written, atmospheric and full of positivity!

We Met In December is a nice modern day romance and when I say romance, it’s not your flirty hot type with sex scenes in it. NO. This is classic, two people meet, get to know each other, pass through hurdles of life, and realise they’re meant to be together, over a span of an year! This is a journey of lifetime, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone who love a nice romantic book!

About the Book:

Following a year in the life of a twenty-something American woman who falls hard for her London flat mate, this clever, fun, and unforgettable romantic comedy is the perfect feel-good holiday read.

Two people. One house. A year that changes everything.

Twenty-nine-year-old Jess is following her dream and moving to London. It’s December, and she’s taking a room in a crumbling, but grand, Notting Hill house-share with four virtual strangers. On her first night, Jess meets Alex, the guy sharing her floor, at a Christmas dinner hosted by her landlord. They don’t kiss, but as far as Jess is concerned the connection is clear. She starts planning how they will knock down the wall between them to spend more time together.

But when Jess returns from a two-week Christmas holiday, she finds Chris has started dating someone else—beautiful Emma, who lives on the floor above them. Now Jess faces a year of bumping into (hell, sharing a bathroom with) the man of her dreams…and the woman of his.

Swathi’s Thoughts:

We Met in December is the love story of Alex and Jess and it is set in London.

Alex is a trainee nurse who had left his successful career as a big shot lawyer and a recent breakup with his ex-fiance, he’s now living in the flatshare of his ex-colleague Becky. Coincidentally, Becky is friends with Jess who invites Jess to live with her in London to pursue her passion for living independently doing a publishing job.

So when Alex and Jess meet in the gorgeous house as flatmates, it’s love at first sight! You know it, I know it but those two are oblivious to the fact and what follows is an year of life where they come closer to know each other better and realise they’re meant to be.

Written beautifully and narrated from both Alex and Jess’s PoV’s it’s a delight knowing these two kind hearted, down-to-earth souls amidst all their imperfections and bad life decisions. Their characters are so real and they are surrounded by a good, healthy group of friends, colleagues and family who support and care for their well-being. It’s all positivity and I was smiling all along while reading the book. It was exactly the book I wanted to read at this moment and am so glad I chose to read it. I’d highly recommend We Met in December to those who’d love a proper romance, a feel good book to cuddle with and enjoy the beautiful atmospheric London.

PS: Jess is a die hard David Nicholls fan and there are references to FRIENDS and some of our favorite shows, if you’re into books and Netflix!

I totally devoted on the book and many thanks to the Publisher for my advanced E-galley. All opinions are solely mine and in no way biased. Happy reading!
