Hey guys!

Hope you’re having a wonderful 2020! Happy to share a new book recommendation with y’all. This time, it is a cute and funny book from Portia MacIntosh who has gone into my list of favorites. I’m on a back-to-back spree reading Portia’s books recently and totally having a treat! This one is a hilarious holiday read and it feels so good to stay in such a mood, doesn’t it? So, here is the plot!!

About the Book:

What if your future was somewhere in your past?
Rosie Jones has been dumped by every boyfriend she’s ever had – most recently by Dinosaur Dave, live on TV, during the ‘phone-a-friend’ segment of a quiz show. After the footage goes viral Rosie receives a bunch of flowers with a message:

I love you, I should have never let you go, I want you back x

But who sent them?

At a loose end and with £50,000 prize money in her back pocket, Rosie decides to take a trip down memory lane, visiting each of her ex-boyfriends to see not just if they are the one who sent the flowers but if they are the one.

Her journey takes her back to the house she grew up in and on a transatlantic cruise to New York, but can Rosie figure out which ex-boyfriend is the love of her life, or should the past stay in the past?

Swathi’s Thoughts:

Rosie works her dream job as a journalist but not just the type of journalism she wished it would be. Her job involves mostly writing Ads in the local newspaper and no crime to report. She sees herself as a positive person. However, her positivity shatters when an accidental phone call on live TV to her nerdy “Dinosaur” boyfriend Dave destroys her image and the little dignity she had at work. Ashamed, she quits her job and gets home to see a bunch of flowers with an anonymous note saying the person loves her and wants her back!! Could this be any of her ex-boyfriends? Should she track them down and see who has sent her those flowers? Could her past decide the future?

With the money she won on the TV show, she decides to take a cruise trip to New York with her sweet parents and her ex-boyfriend/turned gay now to meet her other old boyfriends who works on the cruise, and the other is in New York. All is fun and well. So what could go wrong?

I loved the characters in the book. They are sweet and cute. This includes her now gay ex-boyfriend who is also her new BFF. He is hot and totally sweet to Rosie. It is true that gays could be a girl’s best friend! And then her parents! Oh boy, aren’t they cute-as-a-button kinda cute? Especially with their holiday spirit on. There are so many “Titanic” references to her cruise trip on the book which were quite funny and right out of my mind.

Although, if you ask me to categorise this book I’d go for laugh-out-loud women’s fiction rather than a Romantic Comedy! There wasn’t much of romance, not as much as I expected. If you’re looking for steamy, sexy scenes between your favorite characters, then this is NOT for you! It’s cheesy yet not spicy but definitely makes you smile all along. Go for it in case you’re having a long day at work and need a book to relax and laugh for a while!

Many thanks to the publisher for having me on the blog tour. Here is the lovely bunch of bloggers who are also talking about the book. Head over to theirs and see what they’re saying!!

Meet the Author:

Portia MacIntosh has been ‘making stuff up’ for as long as she can remember – or so she says. Whether it was blaming her siblings for that broken vase when she was growing up, blagging her way backstage during her rock chick phase or, most recently, whatever justification she can fabricate to explain away those lunchtime cocktails, Portia just loves telling tales.

After years working as a music journalist, Portia decided it was time to use her powers for good and started writing novels instead.

Bestseller Portia writes hilarious rom-coms, drawing on her real life experiences to show what it’s really like being a woman today – especially one who doesn’t quite have her life together yet.

Portia has published 13 books with HQ (HarperCollins) and Boldwood Books so far, with more coming soon.
