Girlfriends Kate, Izzy, Jennifer and Rowan have been friends forever. This year as they turn 40, they plan to celebrate it with a week long holiday in a gorgeous villa in France along with the or family and kids. It’s supposed to be a dreamy holiday away from the day today stress and city life!
However Kate’s holiday is already not looking good as her teenage daughter is looking distant and troubled and her husband seems like he’s having an affair. More specifically, he seems to be having an affair with one of her best friends! And she’s intended to find the culprit. Instead of confronting her husband face to face, she starts her own investigation by hacking her husband’s phone and going through her friend’s things! Oh did I mention Kate works with the FBI as an investigator? She’s not the cops though.
As the drama unfolds, more secrets, lies, and betrayal comes to light followed by an unfortunate murder! Told from the Kate’s PoV and the other characters recurring in alternative chapters, the author makes sure to hook his audience right where he wants. I tried lying to myself that it’s one more chapter and I’ll keep it down but I simply couldn’t. The suspense is intriguing and the characters are completely unfaithful and unreliable. You would want to know what happens next without wasting any time.
T. M. Logan plays with family dynamics creating domestic troubles, and brilliantly turning them into a nail biting suspense thriller. In the picturesque village of France, the villa is just what you need for a holiday getaway. Except the murder. It’s just the perfect plot and a highly recommended beach book to binge upon!
