I have been away for a week, and guess what I’ve been doing? I’ve got myself cozied up with a bunch of reader’s copies of brand new books, and a handful of shows on the beloved NETFLIX. Now, Netflix is one hot shot, isn’t it? Surely, it offers something for everyone. But, the catalogue is vast, and you’re most likely to end up watching something boring, and then quit after few minutes of watching. That’s why you’ll need a guide of TV shows or movies or documentaries. There is also a lot of hype going on, and surely, you’d have heard a lot of reviews about every show listed on the website. But most reviews are commercial, and not real time. Which is why, I am here to share my thoughts, recommendations, and a possible heads-up for what you can expect from Netflix in the forthcoming months of 2018. SO here we go!

  1. 13 Reasons why

Starring: Dylan Minnette, Katherine Langford, Kate Walsh

Genres: Drama, High School, Teen, American

Total Seasons: 2 | 16+

Summary: Why did Hannah Baker take her own life? Her classmates all have their own secrets, and the truth is about to come out.

What to expect: Dark, emotional and full of suspense. Every episode contains some serious contents that might suggest suicide, self-harm or depression. If you’re prone to any of these, then you’ll need to watch it with someone along you.

  1. House of Cards

Starring: Kevin Spacey, Robin Wight, Kate Mara

Genres: Drama, Politics, American

Total Seasons: 5. Final Season due in 2018 |16+

Summary: A ruthless politician will stop at nothing to conquer Washington in this Emmy and Golden Globe-winning political drama.

What to expect: A-Class Performances from talented Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. Filled with Betrayals, Murder, Sex, Politics.

Summary: A financial adviser is forced to leave his job in Chicago and move to Missouri Ozarks with his family, where he must launder a lump sum 500 million dollars in 5 years to appease a drug boss.

What to expect: Dark and Ominous setting, with a compulsory twist at the end of every single episode. Compulsive and addictive.

  1. Stranger Things

Starring: Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard

Genres: Drama, Supernatural, Teen, American

Total Seasons: 2 | 16+

Summary: When a boy vanishes, a small town uncovers a mystery involving secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one strange little girl.

What to expect: Jaw dropping CGI that are unimaginable to human brain. Beautiful performance from the little actors. Creepy, dark town.

  1. Sacred Games

Starring: Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte

Genres: Drama, Thriller, Crime, Indian, Hindi-Language | 18+

Total Seasons: 1, 8 episodes

Summary: A mysterious call from Mumbai’s Thug lord to a degraded Police Inspector leads him to follow a number of clues and hints through the city, as he touches the level of unimaginable dangers.

What to expect: Set in Mumbai, expect a roundabout of the city’s high-end as well as the slum life, including bloodshed, murder, nudity and twists. Adopted from the Novel of same name.

  1. Safe

Starring: Michael C. Hall (Dexter Fame), Amanda Abbington (Sherlock’s Mary), Marc Warren

Genres: Drama, Suspense, Thriller, Crime, British

Total Seasons: 1, 8 episodes| 16+

Summary: Set in a quiet English Suburb, Widower Tom is trying to get his life back to normal, until his elder daughter vanishes one night. The rest of the series follows his attempts to locate his daughter, while unleashing several hidden family secrets and truth about his super-posh neighbors.

What to expect: A lot of close-ups of the actors. Heavy suspense (and not just build up BGs). A twist at the end of every episode to make you watch the next one almost immediately. Harlan Coben’s creation.

Summary: A privileged New Yorker ends up in a Women’s prison when a past crime catches up with her in this Emmy-Winning series from the creator of “Weeds”.

What to expect: Deadpan, Witty and Irreverent. Expect some unexpected sex scenes, unruly language and a lot of nudity. Insider of a Women’s Prison

9. Narcos

Starring: Wagner Moura, Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones Fame), Boyd Holbrook

Genres: Drama, Crime, Thriller, American, Columbian True Story

Total Seasons: 3| 18+

Summary: The true story of Columbia’s infamously violent and powerful drug cartels fuels this gritty gangster drama series.

What to expect: If you are a fan of Breaking Bad and Drug crimes, then this is your pick. Expect dozens of true life events pictured in the vast deserts of Columbia.
